Post Special Hours and Holiday Closures

Social Media Tip #1: Communicating effectively with your customers about special holiday hours can build goodwill, trust, and a sense of community.

Have you ever gone out to dinner, and checked online to see if they were open, only to find out they are closed when you get there? Avoid this negative interaction with potential and current customers at all costs. Many people will understand and give your business another shot. But it is worth it to build a relationship of trust and communication with the people that you hope to serve right from the start.

Your business should take the time to go to each platform that represents you. (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google, Website) Let your customers know you are closed on a holiday or open special hours. Let them know if you have a special sale, event, or menu. This will get you noticed by new customers and help keep the ones you already have interested.

Many platforms will let you set special hours or days closed in advance so it is something that can be done all at once or updated as new situations arise. Short-staffed and opening a few hours late? Take a moment to change your hours or post an update. Have a booking for a private party? Let your regulars know you are closed for the night.

Google (or Bing) your business to catch any sites relaying outdated information about you. Reach out to them with the correct info. This can be difficult because, to be honest, they don’t really care. But a little persistence can usually get it done. The worst culprits are the food delivery apps that poach information that is wrong or old and make their customers pay the difference. But this also reflects badly on your business as well.
